This is my first blog in which I will try to tell about the Call of Duty series, about its popularity, based on personal experience (only what I played). I will say right away that the article will have a lot of my opinion about various parts of the game, so some fans may be offended))
It all started 10 years ago in 2003, when Activision released the creation of Infinity Ward under the name Call of Duty, laid the foundation for the entire franchise. In this game, we were invited to go through three campaigns for the American, British and Soviet soldier of World War II (if I am not mistaken in Medal of Honor, one could only play for Americans). As such, there was no plot in the game: the tasks of the missions were mainly to blow up something, to steal the papers, to hold out for some time, to clean the territory from the Nazis, but all the majority of the missions were interconnected with each other, which made it possible to focus on them quickly. By the way, there were two tank missions in the game – it was possible to control the tank, shooting enemy enemy on the schedule did not stand out, the engine ID Tech 3. Gameplay: there was a compass with a star at the bottom of the screen, which showed the location of the current goal of the mission, in another corner – a health scale, full of first -aid kits scattered on the map

Summing up, we can say that Call of Duty turned out to be a solid, unnecessary joker in the first person in which the fascists had to beat and some key points of history (Normandy, the German battleship Tirpitz, Stalingrad, the Reichstag) could be observed. I didn’t play multiplayer, so I can’t tell anything about him.
After one year, Activision produces Add-on-on from Treyarch Call of Duty: United Offensive, which was not much different from the original. It had new plot missions and weapons. From interesting moments, it is worth noting a flight on the B-17 “Flying Fortress” bomber: in this mission it was supposed to run from a machine gun to a machine gun and knock down German planes, earning iron crosses.
There were few new weapons in the game, but among them I would like to note the legendary American bazuka, flamethrower, TT-33 and the German machine gun MG-34, which could be dragged with yourself and shoot from the bipod (MG-42 in the game was easel, but with endless ammunition).

So 2007. Another part of the game appears on the shelves Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Modern? But what about our beloved fascists with you? But no way. Now you have to fight in 2011, and the plot has appeared in the game. Now not just a war with the killing of thousands of NPC, but also with certain global and plot turns. Nezhdanchik. . Now about multiplayer. In the network mode, I played after Modern Warfare 2 and the sensations are slightly different than, say, those who played the order. The game has 5 basic and 5 custom classes, the sets of which consist of (these sets have not changed in the future): two trunks – the main and additional explosives (grenades, C4, brackets, etc.) and two tactical grenades, three perks (add. reinforcements) and one award for their own deaths. Plus there were awards for a series of murders (3 – BPL, 5 – air from the air, 7 – helicopter). In the multiplayer, it was necessary to kill/capture the points/blow up objects, earnings thus earnings for which your level developed (up to 55th) developed and new guns and perks were issued. Thanks to custom servers, the game turned out to be very exciting and dynamic, for example, on a small card “Sent” (I don’t remember the original name), with the number of players> 12, a formed scribe was happening (and the number of players was limited only by the server). In general, it turned out, in my opinion, the best game of the series, and at that time the game lured up with an excellent plot and gameplay and a very cheerful multipleor.
It flew another year and Treyarch decides to return to the theme of World War II. Well, Call of Duty: World at War I turned out to be for me the first game of the series that I did not master. No, the game was not prohibitively difficult – it also remained that fighter for relaxation, but now I don’t remember why I did not digest it, it was might be in the schedule or plot. So we were invited to play for an American soldier in Japan and for Soviet in Germany. In principle, little can be said here, since the game is released on the already beaten theme of the series. In addition, I want to say that the game is made on a modified IW 3.0 Engine and PC appears a prestige mode in a multiplayer, which allowed to re -swing the levels and gave additional nishtyaks. I almost forgot – in the game there was a zombie mode, the essence of which is to explain, I think it is not worth it.
In 2009, the relay stick again switched to Infinity Ward and they did not force them to wait long and went to shops with their next creation Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Ideologically and plot, the game continued Call of Duty 4, which, in principle, benefited it. I won’t talk much about the plot, I will only say that it was not bad, although it became a bit of drug addict (the third world) and in some places very scandalous (execution at the airport and the hype of the press about this, which made the game additional free advertising), and this did not damage the game. Graphon in the game increased (thanks IW 4.0 Engine), the gameplay has not changed, have they added more body kit to guns
The multiplayer has even more weapons, levels, prestige and awards for murders. The coolest reward was the vigorous bomb, which was pretended to be a series of 25 murders to cheaters or fierce nerds and destroying everyone and the whole, the team in which this miracle became automatically becoming hero the winner, which caused opponents severe pain below the back. The series everything remained the same unstressing action movie with a suitable plot, reiglable, and of course a dynamic multiplayer. But the developers managed to add a spoon of tar to a barrel of honey this time, removing the allocated servers. At all. Now we were invited to play solely according to the rules that we were prescribed and a strictly defined game mode by the number of players. Instead of servers, P2P system appeared (like a torrent). So.
Let’s get back to Treyarch. After another year, this studio makes the game Call of Duty: Black Ops, which I also did not master. Treyarch continues its subject again, but this time we see a cold war and others like it. In the game we are given to play mainly for one character – Alex Mason. We are offered to kill Fidel Castro, escape from the Soviet camp, fight in Korea and other charms of that time. I didn’t master the game just because of the plot that seemed too stubborn to me, and I abandoned the game in the middle. I did not really like the graphics because of some brownish shades (maybe it seemed to me so) and the old modified IW 3 engine.0 Engine. The multiplayer has not changed much: weapons of the Cold War, plus the currency. T.e. After the battle ended, you received not only experience points, but also money for which unlocked guns and accessories were bought for them. In principle, everything I can say about this game. Zombies, by the way, remained.
Half a year before Call of Duty: Black OPS, the publisher Activision, due to some of its showdowns, threw out part of the key employees of Infinity Ward, including the founders of the Modern Warfare series, which will then play a cruel joke with the publisher. Due to the fact that the new game was supposed to go out on time, and half the employees were fired (who fell to the main competitor Activision EA and under their wing organized the Respawn Entertainment studio, which will show itself in three years), were involved in the Sledgehammer Games and Raven Software, which EA Los Angeles used to create herbs used to create Red Alert. But the felts of the grass turned out to be wrong, the felts were overdoed and in 2011 comes out Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3… the worst game of the series. The game instantly failed from users. Perhaps this has never happened. There are no words. As always, there were few innovations in the network mode: a couple of new modes, several trunks and new murders, which could now be obtained not only for a series of murders, but also for the number of murderers in general. So we came close to the last game of the franchise beyond Treyarch Call of Duty: Black Ops II. After the E3 exhibition, I believed that this would be a kind of clone of Ghost Recon: Future Soldier. I was deeply mistaken – the games were completely different, but GR: FS were still eager for some ideas. So Black Ops 2 The first game that pleased me from the time of MW2: it contained a short, sane plot in which there were no bad Russians (with the exception of Kravchenko, but this is an episodic frame), a new gameplay – mission to the shock group (a detachment is given that can be controlled and switched between units) and for the first time in the series of several endings). During the game, there will be key points, as a rule, related to a moral choice, affecting the end of the game. And now about the chips borrowed from GR: FS: the first is the possibility of choosing equipment and a body kit in front of each mission, now you can take what you like, and not some garbage that you will immediately throw out; The second chip is the unlock unlock tokens that have changed the currency, now, along with an increase in your level in network mode, you get one tokens with each level, given that there are 55 levels in the game, there are plenty. As a result of Call of Duty: Black Ops II, this is the case when the students surpassed their students (Infinity Ward with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3). The only major drawback in the game is the Russian voice acting from the "new disk", it is disgusting.
